Digital Archive
A digital archive is the organised, backed-up store of everything that documents your practice: artwork images, certificates, invoices, condition reports, exhibition history, press, statements and CV. For a working artist it is both insurance and infrastructure. If your studio is lost tomorrow, your archive is what survives, and it is what lets you apply, sell and exhibit at speed. A good archive uses consistent folders, clear file names tied to catalogue numbers and at least one off-site backup. Pair it with reliable artwork metadata and documentation so every file is findable. Over time the archive becomes your career record, supporting everything from estate planning to grant applications, gallery onboarding and resale verification through provenance and chain of ownership.
