Limited Edition
A limited edition is a run of identical works produced in a fixed, declared quantity, after which no more are made. Editions are common in printmaking, photography, sculpture casts and digital works. The edition size, numbering format (for example 3/25) and any artist's proofs must be declared up front and never expanded, because doing so collapses trust and value. Each edition piece should be signed, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that records the catalogue number and edition details. Buyers pay for the scarcity, so the integrity of the edition is everything. Pair limited editions with a clear retail price strategy, a complete edition record in your inventory and, where relevant, a giclée print specification so production stays consistent across the run.
