Between Weather & Silence was inspired by the atmospheric seascapes of J.M.W. Turner, particularly his later works where weather, light and mood begin to take precedence over literal description. Rather than focusing on the vessels themselves, the painting explores the sense of distance and uncertainty that emerges when forms become absorbed into atmosphere. A steamship and sailing vessel occupy a vast expanse of sea and sky, appearing less as subjects than as fleeting presences within a changing environment. The work invites viewers to linger within this ambiguity, where observation gives way to suggestion.
