This portfolio brings together original contemporary landscape paintings by Andrew Bowers, drawn primarily from the ongoing Quiet Divides series. The works are observed from Yorkshire and other landscapes the artist has lived and walked in, and return repeatedly to the boundaries that shape a place: drystone walls, field edges, footpaths, narrowing watercourses and the long horizons that separate moor, woodland and sky.
Most works are made in acrylic and ink on layered surfaces, with passages of restrained mark-making and quiet structural language. The paintings sit between abstraction and observation — concerned less with topographical accuracy than with atmosphere, subtle structure and the felt experience of being in a particular place.
