About this work

Forest Emberlight was inspired by a walk through Esholt Woods near Rawdon, Leeds, where a distant blaze of light appeared between the trees. Rather than focusing on the woodland itself, the painting explores the experience of being drawn towards that unexpected illumination. A winding path leads the eye through shadow and atmosphere towards a glowing focal point, creating a sense of anticipation, mystery and quiet discovery. The work reflects those moments in nature when light transforms an ordinary scene into something memorable, inviting us to pause and look more closely.
