About this work

Held in Red explores the quiet intensity of inward reflection. Set against a field of saturated crimson and scarlet tones, the figure appears suspended in a private moment of contemplation. With eyes closed and head gently lowered, the portrait suggests a state of calm awareness, where emotion is felt deeply but expressed with restraint. The monochromatic palette removes distraction and focuses attention on mood, creating a work that is less concerned with likeness and more interested in presence, memory and emotional resonance.
