About this work
While They Were Talking examines social presence and collective memory within an interior space, drawing on the atmosphere of the Fforde Greene pub in Harehills, Leeds. Across the square composition, five figures gather along a deep green diagonal counter, framed against a warm, brushed backdrop. Andrew Bowers uses structured figurative composition and expressive colour to explore how quiet human interactions shape our recollection of shared local places.
